Cheyenne is a female chocolate lab who is 4 years old and is my child. I know everyone says that but I can’t imagine life without her. She goes everywhere I do and is always by my side. She went missing for 6 days and we found her this last Saturday evening. We weren’t exactly sure what was wrong with her until yesterday. But since she could only use 3 legs and held the 4th one up, couldn’t control her bladder or bowels or wag her tail, we knew something was wrong. We had a vet come check her out Sunday morning and he said she would be OK til Monday. We went to three different doctors yesterday; all with unhopeful answers. I even called my cousin’s husband who is a vet in Harrison, and he said he refers patients to Azzore occasionally so here I am. She’s very alert and didn’t seem like she was in much pain until yesterday, probably from being carried around so much.
According to the others her back is broken so badly that they have said it would be very, very unlikely she could ever regain control again but a 50/50 shot she could walk. I would be OK with taking that chance but they said the surgery could be $4,000 to $4,500 and that is money we don’t have. We are a newly married couple and are barely scraping by. I am just not ready to give up on my baby.
Cheyenne had surgery at Azzore Veterinary Specialists today. Dr. Dew offered to perform the surgery for $3,200. Azzore’s Angels is helping to raise funds for the balance of the surgery.
