Great news: Ronan’s family just informed us that they have been able to raise the funds for Ronan’s surgery in March!
Meet Ronan, one of my most recent work rescues (I work for a veterinarian). Ronan was brought in three weeks ago by a breeder to have a checkup . He is a beautiful charcoal Labrador retriever. We initially thought Ronan had a heart mumur and the breeder wanted him to be euthanized. While I was holding him, something in me sparked. The breeder looked at me and said ” well you can just have him”; I couldn’t say “no”. I thought to myself if he dies, at least he will be in a home where he is loved. Ronan surprised us. The fluid on his chest was gone in a few days but as weeks progressed, the mumur was still there; it wasn’t getting worse but it wasn’t getting better either…We had a specialist look at his heart. Unfortunately Ronan’s heart murmur is actually patent ductus arteriosus or a hole that is supposed to close when a puppy is born. Ronan’s never did. Looking at Ronan, you would think he is an ordinary puppy. It saddens me that such a great dog was seen solely as a dollar sign and not for the wonderful soul he is.
Ronan needs surgery estimated to cost approximately $2000. Can you help this sweet, young puppy?
