Another UPDATE: We have been informed that donations to cover Max’s surgery have been raised by the veterinarian clinic that treats Max!
UPDATE: Max’s growth now needs to be surgically removed, as it has increased in size. Grandma is not well, as her cancer has spread. Max is her baby! Can you help us raise the money for the surgery so so Grandma still has Max for the time they have left together? The cost of the surgery is $600.
After losing two twenty year old sister cats the summer before, my Grandma decided to adopt two cats that were posted on a bulletin board at her work. So, we went and met them and picked them up on May 22, 2010.
Max has always had allergies, so every once in a while he has to go and get a shot for that or he will lose hair and will scratch so much he is raw.
After taking him to the vet they determined this was not from or related to the allergies. At this point they are not sure if it is a large cyst or abscess or if it is lymphoma.
We’re hoping to have the mass removed, but we can’t afford that kind of treatment. We found a DVM in Kansas that specializes in cats and Azzore’s Angels has so graciously agreed to help us out. As soon as we can raise funds to have him taken for a physical test with the specialist up here they will be able to give us an estimate on the cost of the surgery to remove the lump. It is a little bigger than a golf ball. He recently received a long-lasting antibiotic shot, which lowered the swelling around the initial lump, but the lump itself is not budging.
Please help our Max out. It would mean so much to our family and to his brother, Pete, if we could save Max and get him the help he needs. He’s just over 12 years of age and he has a lot of life and spunk left in him!
