We received word that “Patches” crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. His life was short, but he was so loved.
“Patches” is one of 19 Pit Bull Terriers seized from a hoarding breeder situation from Trumann AR. They were never allowed outside to “do their business” as Trumann is a BSL town. When neighbors complained of the horrible odor coming from this home, the police discovered all of the dogs and newborn pups covered in and living in their own urine and feces. They were all sick and untreated with scabies. The pregnant and nursing mothers were also sick with parainfluenza. The untreated illnesses of the mothers leads us to my sweet Patches. He was born with hydrocephalus. Commonly called water on the brain. It developed while in his mommy’s tummy because of the parainfluenza. This condition puts pressure on his developing nervous system and is throwing his growth and development off track. He stumbles constantly when he walks like he is dizzy. He’ll shake his head to try to ‘shake it off’. He also has a hole in his skull that if isn’t protected, a bump to his little noggin could be tragic. If it weren’t for the Jonesboro Shelter and Gentle Souls Pit Bull Rescue he would not have made it this far. Now we are leaning on Dr. Dew to help us in this fight to give this baby the life he deserves. Dr. Dew will be performing a CT Scan next week to help us determine future treatment. Three of the new babies have lost their fight to various preventable illnesses. Little Patches is fighting so hard to live life to the fullest. Can you help? Any donations towards the specialty care of Patches would be greatly appreciated!
