Zoey is 4 months old and weighs 3 1/2 pounds. I got her November 5, 2013. I had been telling my friends about how I wanted a dog at my new apartment. My friend Taylor set up the surprise and brought her to me just a few days before my birthday. Zoey is a lively little chihuahua and she loves to run and play indoors and outdoors. We spend almost all day together every day as long as I’m not in class. She is my world and the thought of her suffering and being in pain brings me to tears. I never knew it was possible to love an animal so much. She is my entire world, my daughter, whatever you want to consider her and this is why I’m trying to proceed with this surgery.
On February 1, 2014 I was at my mother’s spending time with family and, of course, Zoey came along. We were getting ready to go to town for some errands, so I decided to take her outside to go potty. She’s still in the process of being potty trained so I knew, I would have to put up the baby gate in the laundry room to keep her from having an accident on the carpet. Zoey is the type of dog that doesn’t want you to leave her side and she definitely hates to be put in the laundry room when we leave the house. I had brought her in the house from going to the bathroom and I was holding her since I was going to be putting her down in the laundry room so we could leave. She knew what I was doing so she tried to avoid being put on the floor by running up my back. I automatically bent over forward so she wouldn’t hit the floor. I couldn’t reach my hands around far enough to reach her so I called my friend over to get her. When she went to grab Zoey, she jumped in the opposite direction and hit the tile floor.
She yelped and whined and I knew itng was serious. We rushed her to the vet where they took x-rays and wrapped her leg. The vet informed me that surgery was necessary since Zoey had broken a bone right in the joint of her elbow. I waited all weekend, and had to watch as she just laid there, not moving much, not wanting to eat, not wanting to do anything. I couldn’t do anything until I could call Dr. Dew that Monday morning. I called Dr. Dew and got an estimate of 2,000 and I immediately broke out in tears. I thought, “How is a college student like myself going to afford this kind of surgery.”
Zoey needs this surgery to take place as soon as possible and I only have a limited amount of funds. Please, no amount is too small. Please help me pay for Zoey’s surgery so she can go back to being her lively playful self again. You can make a donation by clicking on the button below. Thank you!
